The Active Citizen:
In the context of INTEGRA, the term “Active Citizen” or “Active Person” is not just a civic attitude - it is
a defined operational role inside a unified urban system. An Active Citizen in INTEGRA is a resident
who is continuously connected, informed, and participating, contributing data, actions, and decisions that
co-create, maintain, and improve the city’s living system - for personal, communal, and municipal benefit.
 From: “Citizen as Service Recipient” -  To: “Citizen as Co-Producer of the City”
 The Active Citizen in INTEGRA is a digitally connected, data-contributing, decision-influencing, and
action-performing co-operator of the civic and urban ecosystem.
Traditionally, a citizen is: a recipient of services, occasionally a voter, rarely a participant.
 In INTEGRA, the citizen becomes: A Continuous Actor in the System, Not episodic (elections,
complaints), but, daily, engaged through digital and physical interaction
󱌰󱌱󱌲󱌳 Core Dimensions of the Active Citizen in INTEGRA:
Data Contributor (Producer, not only Consumer): Updates personal, household, and activity data
Reports issues, events, needs,
Shares observations about public assets.
Data flows bottom-up, not only top-down.
Co-Manager of Public Assets: Participates in: maintenance, inspections, improvements:
Can “adopt” assets (bench, street, garden, facility) - Public space becomes shared responsibility
Community Participant: Engages in: volunteering, mutual aid, local initiatives. Builds social capital,
not just infrastructure:
Decision Influencer: Provides feedback on policies and services, Participates in surveys,
consultations, prioritization. Governance becomes interactive.
Informed Decision-Maker: Uses system insights: health, finance, mobility, environment. Makes
better personal and family decisions:
Behaviour Shaper: Adjusts: consumption, travel, energy use - based on system feedback and
incentives. Citizen behaviour aligns with city goals
Integrated Identity Across Domains: The same person is: a patient, a commuter, a consumer, a
volunteer, a parent, a worker. INTEGRA unifies all roles into one coherent system identity
󰀔󰀕󰀖 The Active Citizen in INTEGRA Architecture is:
 Input Layer : Provides real-time data, Signals needs and issues.
 Processing Partner: Participates in workflows, Validates and enriches data.
 Execution Layer : Acts (volunteering, maintenance, participation).
 Feedback Loop : Evaluates outcomes, Drives continuous improvement.
1. Is INTEGRA an all-inclusive system, methodology, vision and disciplined mechanism to the
community or urban society only? NO. It is all of these to the individual as well. INTEGRA strives
to create a new, self-confident, creative, organized, disciplined and optimistic individuals and
communities. With a bonded, computerized, integrative framework.
A person in the western world wakes up in the morning. Does he know in advance what he must do
today? The answer depends on age, health and employment:
If up to the age of 30-35: it is likely that he has a daily schedule dictated for at least half a day:
kindergarten, school (community), military service, family, work, business, education, love, social life,
relationship, meals, leisure time, physical activity.
If aged 30-65: earning income, work, love, relationship, family, child care, home care, accounts, car and
animal maintenance, community, social relations, health, physical activity.
If aged 60-65 or older: plenty of free time, love, community, recreation, relationships, meaning,
happiness, memories, physical activity.
What are the themes or motifs that accompany us all the days of our lives? Love, relationship, family,
community, physical activity.
What all of these have in common: initiative and activism. Striving for self-confidence, significance and
happiness. The concept of being active changes throughout different life stages:
2. Being an active person refers to maintaining physical, mental, and social engagement in life. It
encompasses consistent participation in activities that keep the body, soul and mind healthy and
confident. These activities can include being organized, discipline, exercising, pursuing hobbies,
socializing, working, contributing to others and, above all, seeking significance. Being Active =
Being Responsible, Networked and consistently Documenting (RAND).
3. Taking responsibility, documenting everything related to oneself and one's family, and being networked
contribute significantly to self-confidence, a sense of significance, and overall happiness through several
mechanisms:
Responsibility:
Personal Responsibility Fosters Self-Esteem and Growth. Be responsible for your health,
education, reputation, morality, income, locality and environment:
Taking responsibility for one's actions and commitments builds a strong foundation of self-
confidence. When individuals see themselves as the agents of change in their lives, it reinforces
their ability to overcome challenges and achieve goals.
Responsibility encourages growth, as it often involves facing difficulties, learning from mistakes, and
developing resilience. By holding oneself accountable, one learns to trust their capabilities, which
boosts self-esteem.
Strengthening Family Bonds Through Responsibility:
Being accountable to family and actively taking care of household matters cultivates a strong
support system. This increases a sense of security for everyone involved, as family members know
they can rely on each other.
Documenting important family matters, such as health records, finances, or significant life events,
helps the household stay organized and prepared. This reduces stress and builds a shared sense of
purpose.
Creating a Sense of Belonging and Significance:
Taking responsibility extends beyond oneself and one's family to include the community. Engaging
with others, whether through volunteering, social activities, or community initiatives, provides a
sense of significance. Knowing that one's actions positively impact others can boost feelings of self-
worth.
Networking:
Networking Leads to Opportunities and Well-Being:
Being networked and connected with others fosters a sense of belonging. It creates a supportive
environment where one can give and receive help, share experiences, and develop meaningful
relationships. This mutual support leads to greater life satisfaction.
Networking helps individuals connect with resources, support systems, and opportunities that
might not be accessible otherwise. It broadens horizons and provides new avenues for growth.
Being part of a network also fosters social engagement, which is closely linked to happiness.
Meaningful social interactions, facilitated by networking, contribute to emotional well-being and reduce
feelings of isolation.
Documentation:
Benefits of Documentation for Confidence and Control:
Documenting important information provides a sense of control and preparedness. It helps in
making informed decisions and navigating life's uncertainties with more confidence.
Keeping records of incidents, events, transactions, positions, achievements, challenges overcome,
and goals accomplished can serve as a reminder of personal growth. This contributes to a positive
self-image and reinforces one's belief in their abilities.
Together, these practices promote a balanced and fulfilled life where individuals feel empowered to
take charge of their destiny, experience meaningful connections, and enjoy a sense of
accomplishment.
